QUICK UPDATE:
Hello all! Just a weekend quickie and some random ramblings....
Pretty cool to see some of my B&W work recently featured on a couple of high-profile blogs - and since peppered all over the internet in different shapes and sizes. Also pretty cool to see the work reposted in different places with French and Spanish and Hebrew commentary. Gotta love the power of the internet! And all of it was originally sourced right here from my deviantArt gallery.
Site traffic to my official website jumped from less than 100 hits a month to 1200 hits in just a few weeks. And as a result, I've just finished a pretty in-depth interview for a 6-page feature in a Hong Kong photo mag.
Will make sure to post it here for anyone who's interested when it surfaces sometime in May. Stay tuned....

Have also started updating and backdating my official website blog - www.garyannettphotography.com/blog - for anyone interested in more work-related stuff.

There's a big overlap with my dA journals but the blog's just a little more professional hopefully and skewed towards the architecture market. Gotta pay the bills after all!
On that note, let's get as unprofessional as it gets and dedicate a whole entry to God's gift to man - Hops. Yeast. Barley & Water!
Beer, Beer & More Beer....
6 months of no booze and a house move later and I've finally been forced to abandon my college boy-esque 3-year collection of empty beer bottles. I offer them up as a tantalizing list of Australia's best and brightest!
Each of them different, they have served as a checklist of some of the tastiest beers found on the streets of Melbourne. By no means exhaustive, these were just the beers that found their way home. 6-packs. 4-packs. And a few single-batch longnecks along the way. A whole treasure trove of beautiful beers found at restaurants and breweries and overseas were savoured and enjoyed but never brought home - and therefore did not make the list.
Those that did brought abundant buckets of joy - and the occasional hangover too.
Ballsy porters and stouts. Knock-your-socks off IPA's. Smooth and creamy Saisons and ESBs and delicious boutique brews of every taste and variety. These are the beers that have nursed me through cold winters, refreshed me on hot summer days and rewarded me at the end of busy weeks and not-so-busy holidays - each one of them a pleasure and little treasure in their own right. It has been a fun journey but time has come to bid them farewell…
I offer them up as a list of inspiration and adventure. So if you're of drinking age and sound mind, set down your Budwiesers, shake off those Coronas and go explore the world of beer waiting at your doorstep. You might just enjoy yourself along the way!

A New Year, a New Calendar and a New Website.
"Work for yourself. And don't be afraid to go into the unknown - it's always easier than you think and infinitely more exciting". ~ John Gollings, Photographer
2012 was a good year for us. Our first year of married life. My first full calendar year behind the camera. And my first time running - and surviving - a marathon! Yep, it was one to remember and a great way to mark the end of our 6th year in Australia.
Alas, life sometimes takes us - or sometimes teases us - in unknown directions. And so, after a great 6 years of building our nest and getting comfortable in Melbourne (too comfortable perhaps) we're settin' sail for the great unkno
Magazine Interview, Hong Kong
QUICK UPDATE:
Hello all! Thought I'd put up the interview I mentioned a couple of months back - thought some of you might find it interesting, seeing as my whole photography "journey" started here on deviantArt back in 2005.
The interview was done for the Hong Kong photography magazine Photo Camera Review and is published in their current June/July issue. You can see the 6-page spread below, and the full interview in english over @ www.garyannettphotography.com/blog
The work was originally picked up by the assistant editor after being featured on a couple of high-profile blogs, which were orginally sourced right here from deviantArt. So k
2012 Calendar Now Available!!!
QUICK UPDATE:
Hello all! The silly season of Christmas craziness is almost upon us and it's that time again for a little shameless self-promotion and a new calendar for a new year!
As anyone who sells calendars on dA knows, it's certainly not about the money. A $5 profit on each calendar isn't exactly a path to riches - instead it's an opportunity to share your work and bring a little colour into people's homes.
After 3 years of pretty landscapes and general feel-good travel pics I thought it was time for a long overdue architectural-inspired celebration of our man-made environment. A few of this year's inclusions celebrate cutting-edge a
Australia's Top Emerging Photographers 2011
QUICK UPDATE:
I was delighted recently to have been voted Australia's Top Emerging Architectural Photographer, in Capture Magazine's Top Emerging Photographers competition, 2011!
To say I was surprised would be a complete understatement. I had enjoyed looking through the Finalists galleries a few months earlier and was convinced there was better Magazine-worthy submissions, more fitting of the type of 'straight-up' architectural photography usually seen in the major architectural magazines. My only hope was that my work was a little bit different - more abstract, and a little bit more creative perhaps. Turns out the judges seemed
