A DD ON TOP OF THE CONTEST WIN! It just keeps getting better!! Thanks again ^Davenit!! An absolute honour!

Can't believe I won ^Davenit's 'Create A Feeling 2' Contest!!!

The Show's Over
"To me this image by ~GVA had alll the criteria met and then some. Emotional, moody, conceptual and fraught with emotion. IMO this is one of the best shots I've seen on dA in a long, long time. Talk about a feeling of being isolated and alone! The title even interjects more emotion into the image. It suggests a feeling of helplessness and giving up. Congratulations man, this is one amazing image". ~ Davenit
Thanks to ^Davenit for the contest and for the HUGE compliment!!
And to EVERYONE who stopped by to comment and fav on it!
I'm quite proud of this one. And $250 for 1st Prize!! Couldn't come at a better time. That'll replace the tripod I lost last week and keep me out shooting.

Also picked up a nice feature by `gilad last week which generated a little traffic around here. [link] Thanks again to `gilad and everyone who stopped by!!

In Other News....
~ MELBOURNE ~
Life in Melbourne is good. We moved here almost 10 months ago, recently got a place by the beach, and are having a blast. Plenty to see and do and LOTS to photograph which keeps me sane.

~ WORK ~
I've been taking small steps since arriving in Melbourne and slowly but surely getting more and more involved with photography.
I picked up a shoot back in June for a Design Company by the name of Little Wonder who were working on a couple of installations for the Melbourne Design Festival. No big bucks but there's a good chance the images might end up in a book or magazine in the coming months.
Just finished an extended shoot for an upcoming calendar. It's going to print any day now and will be officially launched Nov. 18. Will upload pics then.
Been lucky to pick up some Assisting work too for a local kids fashion photographer by the name of Sheena Cooke which was my first introduction to real world commercial photography. Lovely lady and a pleasure to work with. Also did some work yesterday for Garry Moore - a well respected car photographer who I hope to spend more time with. An absolute gentleman at the top of his game. Seriously impressive setup. $80,000 39MP camera!!!! Now that's high-end! No better place to learn!
----------------------------------------------------------
I hope to use this journal a little more now and start featuring some of my personal favs from around dA. Stay tuned....
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND KIND WORDS!! ALMOST AT 15,000 PAGEVIEWS AND 299 WATCHERS THANKS TO YOU!!
Be good. And keep shooting! ~ Gary
