QUICK UPDATE:
Hello All!
Hope this finds you in good health and feeling creative. I've finally caught up on my Deviation Watch List and am enjoying browsing peoples galleries again. I endeavour to reply to MOST comments and to thank new watchers for stopping by. DeviantArt remains primarily a place for me to stay inspired and to get feedback on my own work along the way. Thanking every Fav and comment quickly turns dA into a chore and not the fun it should be. Hope you understand.
Life as a photographer's assistant continues to be the unpredictable, stop/start journey that it's always been but worth every bit of the persistence and perseverance it needs. Recent shoots include everything from cars and power tools to architecture exhibitions.
It's also been nice to finally apply a little of my Photoshop nerdiness to a professional setting with recent retouching work for Andrew Richey Photography. At this stage it involves nothing more than colour correcting French Collection Clothing and removing mannequin nipples but it's a step in the right direction and pays the highest hourly rate than I've gotten since graduating.
And, last but not least, I've got another image featured in an upcoming issue of Capture magazine and am in the final stages of putting together my 2nd mini-exhibition of sorts, here in Melbourne. More details to come...
Ali and I are off to the States on Tuesday and then on to Haiwaii for Christmas! Yep, I guess that's the flip-side of unpredictable freelance work - holidays when you need them.
Best of luck for the rest of the year. I hope all your 2008 goals are satisfied or at least one step closer. Remember, if you never try, you'll never know.
Till next time, be safe and keep shooting! ~ Gary

IN OTHER NEWS:
Thought I'd share a few behind-the-scenes snaps from a recent shoot with Garry Moore. Garry's been working as a commercial photographer for over 20 years and made the top ten list of Australian advertising photographers in 2008. This was his first attempt at stop motion animation. The project was for the new 7-11 Slurpee Kick (slushed ice drink with taurine).

The work is definitely a test of endurance. At 30 frames per second it took over a week to produce 3 one minute animations. More Robot Chicken than Wallace & Grommit, it's clunky in style and a little nerdy.
Enjoy the pics and go check out the animations at the link below....
